440B stainless steel angles are manufactured from a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel more hard and strong than typical stainless grades. Following appropriate heat treatment, they are able to produce up to 950 MPa tensile strength and a hardness near 58 HRC. Although more resistant to corrosion than 440A, they are mostly appreciated for their excellent edge retention, wear resistance, and toughness. It is also possible to machine the alloy in the annealed state and polish to a high finish.
