Stainless steel 317 angle is mostly made up of iron, with elevated percentages of chromium (18–20%), nickel (11–15%), and molybdenum (3–4%) to promote greater corrosion resistance, especially against chlorides and other hostile chemicals. It provides a tensile strength of about 515 MPa and a yield strength of about 205 MPa, with good ductility and weldability. The higher molybdenum content gives greater pitting resistance than 316, making it suitable for those applications with intense chemical exposure. The alloy works well under high-temperature and high-stress applications, providing a robust combination of strength and corrosion resistance.
