Stainless steel 316L channel is an austenitic iron alloy containing 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, with minimal carbon content (up to 0.03%) that improves its weldability and minimizes carbide precipitation possibility. It has a tensile strength of about 485 MPa, a yield strength of about 170 MPa, and has good ductility. This blend offers better resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion, particularly in chloride media, without sacrificing good mechanical properties and toughness.
