The ASME SA 387 Grade 22 Class 1 & 2 Sheets and Plates are primarily made from alloy steel, featuring chromium (2.00–2.50%) and molybdenum (0.87–1.13%), which offer excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation at elevated temperatures. The carbon content is kept low to enhance weldability, while manganese and silicon contribute to improved toughness. Class 1 plates provide higher elongation, while Class 2 plates are designed for greater tensile strength.
