Stainless Steel 15-5 PH (UNS S15500) is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel that contains about 15% chromium, 5% nickel, along with small amounts of copper and niobium. This material is designed for high strength, good transverse toughness, and excellent corrosion resistance. Depending on the heat treatment (like the H900 condition), it can achieve tensile strengths of up to 1200 MPa and yield strengths around 1100 MPa. Compared to 17-4 PH, 15-5 PH offers improved toughness and weldability, making it a great choice for structural and mechanical applications that require both high strength and moderate corrosion resistance.
