440C stainless steel circles are produced from a martensitic stainless steel grade containing high carbon, which can be heat-treated to attain up to 60 HRC hardness. The material has high tensile strength, commonly in the range of 760–2200 MPa once hardened and tempered. Though its corrosion resistance is moderate against austenitic types, it is good in mildly corrosive environments. The alloy possesses good dimensional stability, resistance to wear, and good machinability in the annealed state.
